Lots of big changes.  Partners for Parrots is in the process of getting an online store together selling The bird school, Novel Tweet Toys and various gift items all as a means of providing you with quality goods while raising funds for PFP.

The big news is that we are ending the adoption program.  Parrot University is coming on Monday, the 29th to pick up the last of the birds in the adoption program.  We are extremely grateful for their assistance and trust that they will do an excellent job figuring out the future for the birds!  So, Timmy & Tina (green rump parrotlets) Rocky (Senegal) Pedro (red bellied parrot) Sasha (cockatiel) and the flock of Pacific Parrotlets (Skylar and Laney, Virgil & Teddy, Teacup & Oliver, Peanut & Lily) will all be moving on.

Rudy & Shiloh (the lovebirds) may go to their new home this weekend, if it does not work out for some reason, they too will go to Parrot University where their potential adopter can go meet them instead.

On the web, we are working on our new logo which will set the color scheme for the website and the online store.  We are also working on our Etsy fundraiser shop

If you have a little extra cash, we'd like to encourage you to think about making a donation to Partners for Parrots to help offset lingering veterinary bills from running the adoption program.  We have several hundred dollars to pay off to the wonderful Dr. Burkett of Avian Veterinary Services in Durham, NC.

Sasha, Nymphicus hollandicus, traveled to Knightdale with my parents yesterday, and her foster family went to pick her up!

PeeWee, Nymphicus hollandicus, should be going to his new house soon also.

Sinbad has a flight reservation on Wednesday May 28, 2:30 EST out of the Raleigh/Durham airport. She will be joining a flock of Moluccan cockatoos at a wonderful cockatoo sanctuary.

Rocky will be seeing Dr. Burkett on Thursday May 29. Rocky has a foster home lined up and we are just making sure she is ready!

Teddy & Pippy's adoptive "mom" will hopefully be able to meet us when we are in Raleigh, to pick up the parrotlet pair's housing setup.

Timmy & Tina, Forpus passerinus, have a pending adoption also!

We are accepting contributions to help pay for Sinbad's flight and Rocky's vet visit. Sinbad's expenses (Flight, $110. Travel carrier, $50, perch/dishes/toy - $20) Rocky's expenses (Vet check: not sure yet, probably b/t $150-$200) Both of these also mean a day and a half off of work for me (lost income) and about five hours on the road. Total for both birds current expenses for all travel, services, etc. will roughly be around $500.

We are currently seeking a fund raiser coordinator.  This individual, or group of individuals, will preferably be in the New Bern and surrounding areas.  We have one fundraiser project to start up which will include the photographing of handmade items and writing descriptions for these for our donation shop.

Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering your time in this project.

We have added a "Wish List" to our website.  As soon as I have a chance, I will organize it better into PFP daily needs, sponsorship, ways to make the program run more smoothly, etc.

The past two weeks have been rather abnormal.  We had an opportunity for a few extra jobs, which were accepted - the flock is becoming expensive to care for!  I finally started taxes yesterday, which I completed and filed today, phew!  The next couple of weeks will be compromised of catching up on the first quarter of 2008's accounting, basic organizing, etc. as well, on top of the regular day to day routine of parrot care.  I am hoping that some flight cages will finally be delivered that were supposed to be here more than a month ago.  We still have quite a number of birds in need of foster or adoptive homes.  Please join our community to learn more!
